Professional AVID Training
Included: A full 1-year Avid Media Composer license. We focus heavily on workflow, speed, and real-world performance shaping utilizing the absolute industry standard NLE.
BJ’s Mobile Gift Shop
You won't be practicing on throwaway footage. You will cut this Sundance-recognized short film that blends drama and comedy from start to finish with weekly critique.
The Queen's Gambit Scene
As a massive bonus, you'll cut a licensed scene from Netflix's global phenomenon starring Anya Taylor-Joy. True prestige television scene work.

Josh Beal, ACE, is a Los Angeles–based film and television editor known for his work cutting high-end scripted television for Netflix, Prime, Hulu, FX, and beyond.
He is widely respected not just for his craft, but for his willingness to share his creative process, decision-making, and his heavy involvement in ACE mentorship and internship initiatives.

Not at all. While basic familiarity with NLEs is helpful, we provide you with a 1-year Avid Media Composer license and foundational training. We heavily focus on high-performance workflows, speed, and standard practices that will elevate you regardless of your starting point.
You won't be working on throwaway B-roll. You'll work with premium, professional footage, including the entire dailies from the Sundance short 'BJ’s Mobile Gift Shop' and a licensed scene from Netflix's 'The Queen's Gambit'.
Because we cap the cohort at just 10 editors, you'll receive a completely immersive, personalized experience. There will be two sessions every week:
- Session One (Avid Workflow): Josh takes you from step one—how to install the software—all the way to setting up a project professionally so it's ready to go for an editor to creatively cut.
- Session Two (Scene Cutting & Storytelling): Focused entirely on scene cutting, storytelling logic, and providing you with direct feedback on your cuts.
Josh will figure out the final schedule together with the group, but historically the best times have been Wednesdays at 9:00 AM PST for the Avid session and Saturdays at 9:00 AM PST for the creative session. There is some flexibility depending on how the group shapes up. If you cannot attend a live session, everything is recorded, and you will still receive direct feedback on your cuts to review at your own pace.

The total price for the 3-month coaching program is $5,000. This includes your 1-year Avid Media Composer license, exclusive access to all premium Sundance and Netflix project assets, and 12 weeks of direct, personalized mentorship from Josh Beal, ACE (approximately 24 live coaching sessions).
